Description

Zuleykha is an opera series in Farsi language, presenting the inner journey of the Biblical female character 'Zuleykha', who was known as Potiphar’s wife and has been regarded as a sinner and seducer of the Prophet Joseph. Although she was considered as a sinner in many religious texts, this opera presents her from a different perspective, depicting her life and the challenges she had to overcome as a female in a male dominant society. The opera looks at the events through Zuleykha's eyes, and reveals that her obsession with Joseph is a manifestation of her soul's great deep longing for self-love. The challenges she faced built a foundation for her to start her inner spiritual journey. A combination of history and fiction, incorporating Eastern poetry of so many great mystic philosophers, this opera invites the audience to understand mysticism and spirituality, self- love, acceptance, and strength.
